A rare opportunity to hone your poetic skills with Poet Laureate of Jamaica, Mervyn Morris, and award-winning poet, Tanya Shirley, who will be facilitating a Poetry Workshop 3.00 P.M – 5.00 P.M on Friday 13 May, 2016 at the National Library Service, Fairchild Street, Bridgetown (opposite Independence Square).
HOW TO APPLY
Interested individuals are invited to submit to Esther Phillips: eephillips7@hotmail.com four (4) poems they have written, by 30 April, 2016. Successful applicants will be informed via e-mail by 03 May.
Please include your contact details with your submissions and type “Poetry Submission” in the Subject Bar.
Fee:
$30 (may be paid half an hour before the workshop begins)
MERVYN MORRIS is Jamaica’s Poet Laureate. His books of poetry include The Pond, Shadowboxing, Examination Centre, On Holy Week and I been there, sort of: New and Selected Poems. He has also written criticism and biography:
In Kei Miller’s anthology, New Caribbean Poetry (2007), Tanya Shirley was selected as one of eight poets in whose hands the future of Caribbean poetry was secure.
